18 June 2025 (38th anniversary of our first day at Sea)

Hello all!

Welcome to the Geronimo Transatlantic 1987 website.

This trip was an important step in the evolution of the Geronimo Program, and certainly had a big impact on all of us, creating lasting memories and friendships.

Captain Steve and I have had some good conversation around the idea of revisiting the trip in the form of an Oral History. Memory is an interesting thing. We each remember the events of the trip in unique ways. The idea behind this project is to revisit the trip from start to finish through the words of those who sailed it.

My goal is to conduct a series of interviews with each of you- either through Zoom or ideally in person- to talk about your memories of the trip and the overall impact that the trip has had on you. As of now, it seems like the most productive way to do this is to have an initial conversation with each of you (60-90 minutes), and then cycle back through for one or two follow up conversations. Additional conversations will be helpful to revisit memories and moments that someone might have forgotten. For example, James might bring up something involving Chris that Chris never mentioned, and perhaps a second conversation would spark recollection.

Anyway, thats the idea.

So, I will be in touch with each of you in the coming weeks to arrange for us to speak.

In the meantime, this will serve as a digital headquarters to inform and update on progress for this project. Stand by.
